Founded in Nieuw-Nickerie in 2014 by Shavero Ferrier and drummer Akeem Smith, Luguber represented Suriname at the first-ever Wacken Metal Battle Caribbean in 2016. Still active a decade later, the band released "Green" — a split EP with Trinidad & Tobago's Anti-Everything, billed as the first inter-Caribbean hardcore split — at the end of 2024.
